General Hospitality

The Hospitality Index: Contains products and services for the hospitality industry.

Hospitality Net: A comprehensive site for the hospitality industry with the latest news, in depth articles, consultant reports, list of associations and events including multimedia. It zeros in on sales, technology, finance, and the business environment for this industry.

How to find out:  Hospitality Management: This guide aims to be a very general introduction to the literature of Hospitality Management and will highlight some of its principal texts and resources.

International Council of Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Education: A non-profit organization for schools, colleges, and universities offering programs in hotel and restaurant management, foodservice management and culinary arts.

 

Gaming and Casinos

American Gaming Association: The association represents the commercial casino entertainment industry by addressing federal legislative and regulatory issues affecting its members and their employees and customers.

Gaming Research Center (UNLV): Created by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), this site offers gaming links, news and research resources.

Native Gaming Resources: Contains links to tribal and Indian gaming and economic development enterprises resources.

Michigan Gaming Control Board: Controls licensing and regulates commercial casinos in Michigan.

National Gambling Impact Study Commission: The commission was established by the US Congress in 1996 to conduct a study of the social and economic impacts of legalized gambling in the states.

Nevada Gaming Commission and the State Gaming Control Board: The Commission and Board administer State laws and regulations governing gaming for the protection of the public and in the public interest in accordance with the policy of the State.

 

Lodging

4Hoteliers:  A news and information resource for international hoteliers and travel trade executives. This section features articles and a research library covering topics such as crisis management, food and beverage, IT, finance, sales and Marketing, and human resources and training.

American Hotel & Lodging Association: The AH&LA is a 91-year-old federation of state lodging associations throughout the United States with some 13,000 property members worldwide. A directory, statistics and a history of lodging in the U.S. can be found on this site.

Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Administration Quarterly: This journal aims to increase understanding of the hospitality and food service industries and of new management principles relevant to the field. Free selected articles and best practices are included.

Educational Institute: The Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (EI) is the premier source for delivering quality hospitality education, training and professional certification that serves the needs of hospitality schools and industries worldwide.

Hotel Franchise Fee Calculator: Calculates royalty, reservation, marketing, frequent traveler, miscellaneous fees and more.

HotelBenchmark: Offers a range of Deloitte & Touche publications and surveys, including trends in hotel performance in the hotel industry. The site also contains a comprehensive database that tracks monthly financial performance of full service hotels in over 300 markets around the world.

HVS International: Provides a library of current and past articles and reports on several hospitality sectors, including lodging.

Lodging Hospitality: Ideas for Hotel Operators and Developers: Lodging Hospitality serves the domestic U.S. lodging industry, which includes hotels, motels, motor inns, and resorts. LH covers site selection, operations, design and decor, financing, building, personnel, maintenance, computerization, merchandising and renovation.

Beverage World: Monthly publication covering current trends and issues related to the U.S. beverage industry.

Journal of Foodservice Management and Education: Shares the results of original work undertaken by college and university faculty, foodservice management professionals, and others with research interest in the onsite foodservice industry.

Michigan Restaurant Association: The Michigan Restaurant Association represents more than 4,500 Michigan foodservice establishments.

National Restaurant Association: Represents, educates and promotes the Restaurant/Hospitality Industry.

Nation's Restaurant News: A weekly publication that provides news, articles and reports about the foodservice industry.

 

Travel & Tourism

American Society of Travel Agents: ASTA, is the world's largest association of travel professionals with over 24,000 members in 140 countries. It is the leading advocate for travel agents, the travel industry and the traveling public.

Office of Travel and Tourism Industries (U.S. data): The official U.S. Government site that is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating international travel and tourism statistics for the U.S.

Tourism Educational Database: Published by Michigan State University and is a comprehensive searchable bibliography of extension service publications.

Tourism Research Links: A comprehensive collection of links to travel-related information.

United Nations: Department of Economic and Social Affairs: Tourism-related annual time series data can be downloaded here for free. Registration required.
