Check out CENTRA - the new and improved library catalog!
You may have noticed that the Find Books link now takes you to an updated interface for CENTRA, the CMU Libraries catalog. The changes should make it even easier to locate library resources that meet your needs. You can use CENTRA to:
- Find books and e-books on your topic
- Browse available ebooks (just search EBOOKS in “Note” for a complete listing, or combine with your subject term(s) )
- Search for specific books by title, author, or ISBN
- Check to see if a specific journal is available through CMU
You can easily link to our Ask a Librarian service if you need help, or to our Document Delivery service to request that materials to be sent to you.
Log in to MyCentra to check your library account, renew books, or save your searches. And be sure to take a look at the New Materials list at the bottom of the screen. New resources (both print and electronic) are added to our collection every month!
If you have questions about using CENTRA to locate library resources, please contact Off Campus Library Services at 1-800-274-3838 or submit a request online at http://www.ocls.cmich.edu/reference/index.html.

ERIC now available through two databases
As of July 1, 2007, off-campus students, staff, and faculty will be able to access the ERIC database through a new vendor, CSA, and through FirstSearch. Users of ERIC via FirstSearch will notice a difference in the appearance and search functions of the CSA database; however, the information available through the CSA version of ERIC will mirror the content indexed in FirstSearch's version. Features available in the CSA version include:
- Ability to format citations in APA format
- Accessing Descriptors directly from the results list
- Narrowing results to peer-reviewed publications before or after a search
OCLS librarians are available to assist you in using this new version of ERIC at 1-800-274-3838. An online tutorial is also available at http://ocls.cmich.edu/help/eric/ERICtutorial.htm.
