Pop-up Blockers

 

Below is a list of the most commonly used pop-up blocker programs. These can prevent your documents from appearing.

Internet Explorer with Windows XP Service Pack 2
Indication of blocking: A box will appear in the top part of the IE window under the tools stating that the site has been blocked.
How-To Unblock: Open up IE, Tools -> Pop up blocker -> Turn Off
AOL toolbar 2.0
Indication of blocking: A message stating “Blocking pop-ups” will appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
How-to unblock: Left click on the message and choose “set pop-up control preferences”. Uncheck “suppress pop-ups from web sites I visit using AOL software.” Click Save to save changes.
AOL 9.0
Indication of blocking: A message stating “Blocking pop-ups” will appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
How to unblock: Go to Safety>web pop-up>Allow all web pop-ups or Allow web pop-ups from these sites. Click Add and save.
Netscape 7.1
Indication of blocking: A yellow star with an exclamation mark will appear in the lower right corner of the screen.
How-to unblock: Click on the icon and add the website you wish to view as an allowed website. Or go to edit>preferences>privacy & security> popup windows>remove checkmark from block unrequested popup windows.
Mozilla Firefox 1.0
Indication of blocking: A yellow bar at the top of the browser appears with a message stating "Firefox prevented this site from opening a popup window. Click here for options..."
How-To Unblock: Left-Click on the yellow bar and from the list of options choose "Allow pop-ups from OCLS." click the link to the Ariel Document again.
Google Toolbar
Indication of blocking: The mouse arrow will become a hand with a yellow star in the bottom left corner, also, in the Google toolbar a number indicating pop-ups blocked increases
How-To Unblock: click the toolbar where it indicates pop-ups blocked, this should change the button into "Site pop-ups allowed"
Yahoo Toolbar
Indication of blocking: Tiny icon next to the Yahoo Search textbox will change from a window with a tiny shield in the bottom right to a six pointed star with a red outline.
How-To Unblock: click on the star indicator icon next to the Yahoo Search textbox and click "Always allow popups from," and choose the OCLS site.
Avant Browser 10.0
Indication of blocking: A window will pop-up in the lower left corner indicating popup windows blocked, also listing the URL of the blocked popup
How-To Unblock: click the Block button in the toolbar
STOPzilla!
Indication of blocking: A sound is played when a site is blocked. Also if the Black List window is open, when a pop-up is blocked, a new entry is added.
How-To Unblock: To unblock a site, either click once in the taskbar on the STOPzilla icon (to open the Black List if it’s not already opened), right-click on the site you wish to allow and click Allow Selection. You can turn off pop-up blocking entirely by double clicking the STOPzilla icon and clicking ALLOW.
Smart Popup Blocker
Indication of blocking: The Smart Popup Blocker icon in the taskbar will blink if it is blocking pop-ups.
How-To Unblock: Click on the Smart Popup Blocker icon. This should cause the red slash running across the middle of the icon to disappear. When this happens, you have turned off pop-up blocking.
PopOops
Indication of blocking: A balloon window pops up with the dialogue "oops".
How-To Unblock: click the icon and the x should disappear. This means that pop up blocking has been disabled.
Pop-Up Sentry
Indication of blocking: A box will appear in the lower right corner, stating that a pop-up has been blocked.
How-To Unblock: Either press Ctrl before clicking a link or to disable pop-up blocking entirely, double click the PS symbol in the system tray and click "Off - pop-ups are not allowed"
