Abstract
The authors present a case study in statewide cooperation in the delivery of library services to distance students throughout Indiana. This paper is the first to tie together all efforts of Indiana academic librarians, since 1994, to create an academic library services consortium focused on services to distance learners. Indiana has a history of interest in libraries serving distance students, but organizing activity in that area was not sustainable until recently when an organization was formed, under the Academic Libraries of Indiana, that shows promise of supporting distance education library services throughout the state.

Anne Haynes is a general reference librarian and has coordinated library services for distance students at Indiana University, Bloomington since 2001. Prior to 2000, she had a long career in academic library technical services. She has given presentations at local and statewide meetings on distance library services.

Susan is the Library Director of Ivy Tech State College, Central Indiana. She formerly was the Campus Distance Education Coordinator. She has developed and taught online courses and in a degree program. In addition she has served on statewide committees to address both intra- and inter-institutional distance education library services.

Indiana University has 36,000 students. Ivy Tech State College, Central Indiana has 14,000 students.
